Is it still "porn" if it's undesirable? Factory finish! Even when it goes bad, it's still worth more than anything painted. This trend to throw paint jobs on new guns is killing my will to...participate.

The color is really good and I dig the fore grip. But I'm out on the stock.

I was initially concerned with Cerakote durability... Fear no more. I visited Whittington Center all last week. Shot about 500+ rounds through each of my AR platforms and I cant see ejection port hits, dings, chips. Very pleased.

Do I need to completely disassemble my weapon to be cerakoted?

Whatever part of the gun you are cerakoting will have to be completely disassembled and media blasted.

Not necessarily but it is highly recommended. I have cerakoted quite a few (over 50) and I did 2 with disassembly or media blasting and both have held up just as good as the ones done properly. I wouldn't advise it until you have 15 or so under your belt.

At least 2 of the guns I painted have in the thousands through them without so much as a rub mark.
