Cerakoted Gun Porn ( lets see them)

Definitely leaning towards graphite black as the accent color, but shying away from FDE and the desert family of colors... Maybe that brown DD is using... Or tungsten and od green?

Don't go with OD.. you'll hate yourself if you do. Blue tungsten would look good as would burnt bronze. Sniper gray (looks more blue than gray) might be okay. I painted a S&W 1500 in coyote tan and it tured out great but I understand wanting something different.

Don't get me wrong, the tan looks awesome on a bolt gun, but I'm also leaning towards hunting with it, and I fear it would stick out a bit amongst the pines in west and southwest GA. Mostly a hog rig in my mind, and some bench shooting. Would love to see a pic of that 1500! I looked at the greens, and I agree with you... Lost its luster in daylight for me. The forest greens and darker ones looked much better, that said. Green is out unless it's a part of a camo pattern

I'll look for some pictures of the S&W tomorrow. It really don't stick out like you think, and hogs can't see very well, they use smell as their main defense. If you're worried about it being seen I would go with sniper gray. I don't know whickmh file the picture are in but I'll look and see if I can find em.

Best thing you could do would be to stop by somewhere that does cerakoting and ask to see their samples. Any reputable place should have a full set that includes every color available. The reason I say this is that some of the colors do not look the same in person as they do in most photos, especially tungsten and burnt bronze. Plus you can put the sample next to a gun and get a better idea of how it will look. You could always order your own samples of the colors you are considering directly from the Cerakote website, but probably easiest to just go somewhere that has them all already.

I forgot to mention I actually had a Springfield 1911-A1 I had coated in burnt bronze and graphite. Loved it!! But I need to go see Brian Ott again and look at some more samples again before I pull the trigger on another job. He had a ton of samples on some little metal circles, and plenty of projects in progress you could look at to see it on an actual gun. Great guy and did me right. He's the closest smith to me in Douglasville.

I took one of my 1911's to Brian a couple of weeks ago for him to install some new parts and cerakote it tungsten/graphite black. If his quoted time was accurate, I've still got another 2-3 weeks til he's done with it.
