Really? So if it wraps around is it still a scale? What about a revolver? Do they have scales also? What about an AR? Are them scales that we hang onto when we go for mag dump? Or does this term only apply to just some grips?

I do it all the time 1/2 the.population has no idea what a 'scale' is. Oh, and the place where you plant your butt on a bike is a saddle.

Scales are the flat panels that attach to grips. For example, a 1911 has a grip and two scales. The grip is the part of the frame you hold onto. An AR uses replaceable grips, they attach to the lower receiver with one bolt.

Exactly, when someone says 30 round clip we know what they mean. Otherwise, how is it possible to correct them and tell them magazine.
