CLOSE THIS

I find it so strange that people contest closing a dust cover to prevent potential debris-caused malfunctions.

Even had someone boast about how you don't have to close a dust cover on the AK platform....... I just looked at them and asked what that top piece of detachable metal on top is called. They just hit me with that fluoride stare. Not to mention, the safety lever acts as a pseudo dust cover for the internals when on "safe" I've seen crap get in that gap when the lever is on "fire" and start jamming up the internals. People who don't shoot enough always want to argue, though.

I’m particular about closing my ejection port cover when I’m done shooting, loading, unloading, etc.

I get asked by students why I do this, fairly regularly.

I had these made recently.

That's WAY better than some of stupid **** I've seen printed right there. In fact there's an Armed Attorneys video all about the dumb stickers and graphics on homeowners guns . Not to mention signs . And when they do have a home defense type incident the DA will always make a huge deal out of their stupid wannabe tough guy ****.

Yeah I've seen enough torture test videos to confirm that while AKs might be okay running dirty they do NOT like sand and various other debris any better than most rifles.
In 98 I owned a Century L1A1 (FAL) which had no dust cover at all. But it DID have these X shaped slots machined into the bolt carrier that I soon learned were called "Sand Cuts" and they helped channel the excess dirt out of the way. Still one of my favorite most missed rifles.

AA are specialists on the topic, of course, but I think that all the way thru' the "justice process", having decals and signage on your gun does you no favors. If you ever end up in a legal defense, the jury will see the firearm, so it doesn't matter what the prosecution attorneys might (or might not) say about it, it's there for them to see in black and white (or tasteful pink).

I think that signage like that just creates risks that you could have avoided.

I do think there's also a risk with a gun that looks too ostentatious. I can imagine that a pimped-out Glock 19 with gold parts (even if they're actually TiN) could be misunderstood by a jury. (Edit: says the guy who likes his guns in stainless or chrome)

Back on topic though - closing dust covers is something I need to get gooder at.

I don't do signs or stickers. Especially when we're talking about my vehicles. To ME there's no benefit to slapping that Glock or SIG or PSA sticker on your truck. That just makes it a target for thieves. And when you get pulled over it's probably gonna take a while longer since the first cop is gonna be waiting on another cop or sergeant to get there and back him up. No point in advertising for anyone not paying you to do it while also making yourself a target.Hell I don't even do campaign signs and stickers either. I've seen plenty of examples of just how stupid and destructive rabid libtards can get.

Fluoride stare!! I'm stealing that.

I need to buy a few good AR-15 rifles and trick them out. Then as a family we need to learn how to handle and take care of them instead of just shooting them. One day they might need to take care of us.

100% agree with you. I even take dealership stickers or tags off my vehicles.

Oh yeah definitely. I hate all that **** car dealers stick on vehicles. Around here the USED lots even put rear glass stickers with their website on every car. Unless they're giving me at least a 25% discount that **** is getting pealed off immediately.
