Colt ball&cap

my uncle has what I think is a Colt 1860 Army civilian. It has a ship on the cylinder. Serial # 96753. Seems strange to have a ship on an Army model. Am I going in the right direction in identifying this gun.
Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks for the info. My meager research puts the value in the $500-$700. Thoughts on this?

Sounds in the ball park. Does it function like it should? cylinder timed right? How rusty is the bore?

Cylinder is tight and smooth. Trigger is crisp and strong. Trigger release is lighter than I expected. The bore is more dusty than rusty. Rifling looks very good.

I think you're in the ball park. I purchased this 1860 with military cartouche's, made in 1862 about a year ago. I paid $1600. It functions as it should, good bore.
