Concealed Carry laws in Georgia...

ght I would ask you guys too :) ...

I was told by my firearms instructor that police were not allowed (by law) to ask you if you possessed a concealed weapons permit. He said he heard that, but was still unsure.

Does anyone in here have an idea? TH

Excellent question !

Our 2nd amendments rights are a big deal on every traffic stop !

Totally respect LE but...

Am I being detained ? Am I free to go ? If he says no...
What crime do you suspect me of , then lawyer up ?

Here is the 2017 Law below, nothing in it says you have to give it up if asked.

What i'm concerned about is all the local municapalities that pass laws attempting to supersedie state/fed(Nathan Deal) laws concerning weapons & especially our new atl dictator like the last one who did whatever he wanted.

Not sure that's correct about 2008, it has the updated hb60 stuff in there as well.

You have to have a driver's license to drive, a fishing license to fish, hunting license to hunt......etc.

If a LEO respectfully asks to see my GWL, I will respectfully show it to him / her.
I don't really. care what the legalities are that's just courtesy and good manners.

Well you had better not have it in your waste band. That **** will get you kilt.

Well, that may be true, but, the the best of my knowledge and research, if any anonymous citizen calls the LE and reports that a person is walking around with a GUN, that gives the LE the authority to make contact with the person carrying the (presumably "evil") GUN.

LE can make a contact and seek explanation if there is any complaint or a person states they are in "fear".
that falls into the probable cause.

Or the Police can BS you and just say that someone complained or had a concern. How are you going to prove any different?
Oh, that's right cops don't lie to Joe Citizen.

Hell I've witnessed DNR lie on the witness stand. That's not hearsay, that's first hand knowledge.

Probable cause of what?

It’s not illegal to carry a long gun in public, permit or no permit, or a handgun with a permit. Simply being in public armed, absent any other action that would lead a reasonable officer to believe a crime is being or has been committed would not be probable cause of anything.

Responding and making a consensual contact would be lawful. Detaining and demanding proof of carry status would not. A citizen’s fear of an armed man in public absent some other action(s) is not probable cause of anything in Georgia.
