Carburetor float stuck open and gas filled the crank case. I’ve drain in and filled with fresh oil. It smokes a little when cranked. Do I need to do anything else?

Nope. Let it run till the smoking stops. Then dump the oil again, this will help get any leftover fuel contaminated oil out.
Put a cutoff valve in the fuel line.
Get some "Mechanic in a Bottle" at wally world. Follow directions and it will fix that sticking float. Agree with adding the cut off valve.
I replaced the carburetor and installed a fuel line cut off. The previous owner must have used ethanol gas. I’ve never seen a carburetor with that much rust. It has stopped smoking and I’ve changed the oil again. Seems to be running good. Now if I can get it in gear. Won’t engage the transmission.
Everything is working! Found the lever that engages the transmission. Son n law has a good riding mower. Thank everyone for helpful advice.
