crock pot cranked up

All my years eating mullet as a kid, never heard of gizzards before. Did eat a ton of fried roe.
Most people haven't I guess. There was a little restaurant in Palmetto Fl, (on Tampa Bay) that served them. I think that is the only place I have ever seen them. My family loved mullet roe. I tried it once as a kid and took an instant dislike to it. I remember it being kind of gritty.
 
When I was growing up when we had chicken we had a chicken everyone had their piece because I was youngest of 5 I got the liver and gizzard. I still love them today but never tried the heart.
 
Yes… I Was 15… Never again.. Can’t get past texture. My MIL gets pissed when we kill one and don’t bring her a heart.


I tried it for the first time this season and after getting past the mental block seeing it as just another cut of meat it was delicious The prep work is the key. I followed the directions on the meat eater site for slicing it up and cooked it on a cast iron pan similar to the way you would a steak.
