Cutting Onions

Don't cut the root end off until you are almost finished.

A friend mentioned this technique... but I couldn't remember the details....dang beer....

Try freezing the onions foe 15 mins before cutting. Also, don't just use the sharpest knife, use one that is thin and sharp.

hold a couple strike anywhere matches between your teeth

Slice onions with a filleting knife. The super thin blade will cut down on fumes etc.

Never had a problem tearing up while cutting onions,but I've notice my wife tearing up a few times while we were chopping some together.

Just buy a TV chopper, 14.95, and usually get a 2ND one free that way you can done faster..

Use vidalia or walla walla onions.

I think it might be largely the type of onion you're using too. For example red onions always tear me up, but the others generally don't. Vidalia or texas sweet has never made me tear up. I find I'm rolling the dice with the yellow or white bagged ones. If one makes me tear up the whole bag will.
