Czech German shepherds

Neighbor of ours had a German Shepard. Very protective but the neighborhood kids would gather up, play football, throw frisbee, etc. And the dog would be right in the thick of it. One night, the wife was coming home and one of those kids was walking home from a friends house. He walked behind the car as she was pulling in the drive. That dogs instincts kicked in, jumped the fence, took the boy down and held him. Bit him in the back down to the bone. The bad ass dog you speak of is a big responsibility. Some might say a big liability. This is not to say they can't be wonderful pet and companion.

Imagine a sentient weapon, and then consider if that's the type of responsibility you want to take on (and have time to take on) for 12-15 years. A good friend has a very highly trained (self-protection and detection) Belgian Malinois. The dog is not a pet, it's a weapon. The dog cannot be left at a doggie daycare or with an extended family member if they travel. They can only go where they can take the dog. Do you have hours per day to spend to reinforce training and exercise the dog mentally and physically?

It's a huge lifestyle change and can be very limiting for the dogs owners. Just consider the sacrifice before making such a huge commitment in time, money, and lifestyle change. Best of luck sir.
I didn’t see the word liability in here but feel it should be included. A trained dog that goes off the rails or misreads a situation can be ruinous Financially. We have a protection breed that failed to get the protection breed memo She is the sweetest dog ever. her job is not to attack or defend if we are attacked, just hold their attention for a second, I don’t care if she growls or tap dances. At 80 pounds she is an attention getter. With her disposition she is a sweetheart to be around. Best of both worlds. If anyone is allowed to stay in her presence long enough to find out she is not a badass they are probably okay anyway.
