Daily Dinner thread?

How's the texture on that? Most of my attempts to cook the two together have always turned out poorly because of the starch in the rice.
Red beans and rice usually has a mushy kind of texture to me? This had more texture between the beans and rice to me, but to get it all cooked, the end result was more like a beans and rice soup. Even though i cooked it a long time to get the broth thickened up. I liked it but it was very different from any other brand I've had.

Try it. There are plenty of recipes online. Like I said just way too much work to feed one person but if you have a family it's a meal.
The ochazuke was just for me. The other 2 i knew wouldn't eat it. Wife had leftover spaghetti and i gave my son half of the seared tuna. I think your recipe will be the same, I'll have to make it for me and no one else is gonna eat it lol

My mom used to make something and I can't remember the name of it. And I don't know how she made it but basically she baked a cup or ramikin of beaten egg like a custard, but it had broth in it with vegetables and usually chicken.

Oh man I got lucky and remembered enough of the name to find it. Chawanmushi. Not quite how i remember her pronouncing it though.

I might have to give this a shot. Brings back some memories.
