No sir… Ran the heat to full with the grill plates and let them do their thing. The Grill Grates make that pellet smoker a great steak / chop cooker. I cook burgers , wieners , asparagus and all kinds of veggies on them. Best addition you can get IMO…

In the first pic the Ribeye had been on for about 3-4 mins before I took the pic.

I’ve had the 590 for 3 1/2yrs and still love it like the day I got it. Great grill and company. I definitely have to get the grill grates. Doing a reverse sear tomorrow.

Grill grates are a game changer. Another thing that makes them so versatile is you can turn them over and you basically have a flat top.

RecTeq. I bought the package with Grill Plates, cover, 200 lbs pellets, competition stand and shelf. They made me a pretty good package price that way and even put it together and thru in a couple of t-shirts.
They really are a super company to deal with.
