Damn yotes!

Ya got to do a few simple things, ya really need a night vision scope ! becaause they mostly feed at night, any fresh road kill will do, fresh doe head, field dressin's, fresh bloody chickin livers to draw them in.. This is the trick...you must stake the bait really good to the ground, they are experts at snatch n run.this give you plently of time to make the shot Sit back and wait, they will come, kill one then stake him down , I know a fella who averages 40 to 50 a year with this technique. i know a man who was in his stand with his bow, got bored and shot a yote straight down below him between the shoulder blades, pinned him to the ground, within 15 minutes the whole pack was ripping the dead one apart right below him, needless to say he would end up being in his stand for the next 12 hrs, vowed to never go in the woods without his hand cannon,or ever do that again...

In years when we trap our land in middle GA in February and March we have a very noticeable increase in fawns and does in the fall. Not scientific but we can "eye" the difference and it is very evident. We usually hit the yotes hard every other year. Last winter we took over 25 yotes off 1800 acres in two weeks. Hunting them is great fun but I don't think you will put much of a dent in them hunting. Trapping is the only way to really control them. As for sponges, hooks and poisons that's not for us.

Saw one a guy had in the back of his truck yesterday. Big female that was hit by a car right in the middle of town. Its unusual not to see one every time I go where I hunt.
