Daniel defense AR10 (.308 vs 6.5 creed)

I’d buy a 308... just because I have ammo on hand. 6.5cm would be a new cartridge for me.

Are you regularly shooting at extreme distances that would give an advantage to 6.5cm?

6.5 Creedmoor is hands down the better performing round, all with significantly less recoil. Match ammo is the same cost for 308 or 6.5 cm.
Yeah. It’s a super interesting round. At sub-500yd shooting I don’t think most with notice any performance difference, but there is a decent recoil difference.

That’s why prefaced my choice based on my abundance of 308 ammo. :becky:

I went with 6.5CM 'cause that's what all the cool kids were shooting...

Plus, I call .308 my divorce cartridge because so many cool guns chambered in it. M1A, FAL, PTR, etc.

6.5 creedmoor hands down. I like .308 and everyone should own one, but 6.5CM is the clear winner in overall ballistic performance.
For sure. But if you’re not shooting beyond a couple hundred yards... you won’t notice any appreciable difference.

Aside from the recoil.

He is wanting a long range rifle and cartridge. Assume that he is wanting to shoot at longer distances, 1k plus.

Regardless of distance, if you need to spot your own shots, especially misses,, less recoil is a huuuuuge advantage. 6.5 cm is easy to keep on target

That’s fair. Spotting through your scope... 6.5 definitely gets the nod.

But I think in this environment... you cannot discount ammo availability.

There’s only so many 6.5 makers... yet you can get 7.62 surplus from across the globe.

Here’s the great thing about the platform... can always barrel swap later to a different cartridge when ammo is more plentiful and cheaper.
