Designing outdoor range for training?

Done, just need some seeding. Made it about 8' high. Thanks everyone (esp @GAgunLAWbooklet) for the safety advice. I used cmshoot 's suggestion for the U shaped walls and the plastic 50 gallon barrels.

The rifle range is done too.

Make your backstop taller than you expect. Even with a pretty tall backstop I still saw ricochets in trees behind my range. U shaped and fairly wide helps. put a bench up at the entrance. My bench has been really handy to sit gear and ammo on. Also get a trash can.
