What the hell, I'll be the voice of dissention. Won't be the first or last time....
He did not walk it ONE time. "Mayes made his son walk from Kings Highway to his home in The Fairways once on Friday, twice on Saturday and again on Sunday. Each time Mayes required his son to carry a concrete block used for landscaping that law enforcement officials say weighed about 25 pounds."
I think most of us are familiar with the type of block used. I'd love to see half of you carry that block in your hands, one HALF mile. Much less 6 times that, without water, at this time of year.
I applaud the father's involvement in his son's life and his ATTEMPT at disciplining him. I deplore his lack of imagination to use his (apparently) hated military discipline on his 4'2" 135# son. Maybe the boy will learn whatever lesson the father hoped to impart. Or maybe, he'll just learn he's a sphincter with unresolved issues.
But I'm like the rest of you, I only have part of the story. He could deserve father of the year, or he could deserve to run a full marathon, today, in full BDU's, carrying that block in his hand.
