Do we over romanticize old muscle cars?

I had a few I would love to have back:
69 Javelin (First car)
66 Chevelle 396/360hp
67 Nova 350
73 Monte Carlo 454 from factory
72 Corvette
73 Corvette

Traded the 73 Corvette (after keeping it for about 10 years) for my first Mercedes in 1987 (when my daughter was born) and been driving Mercedes ever since.

I remember when I was a kid in the 60s I thought my Uncles were to cool with there cars. 68 Charger with one and other one had 68 or 69 GTO "The Judge" and my best friends older brother got a new 68 Road Runner for his graduation present. I just dont feel the cool factor when I look at newer cars that I still get when I see one of these old beast roll by.

You, sir, are a biker at heart.

There is nothing romantic about a honda civic or a new impala.
Give me 455+ ci under the hood, and I'm a happy camper.
68 Olds 442 was my favorite of the cars I've owned so far.
Big cubic inch, and loud as hell.
Plus a back seat that comfortably held 2!

I miss. Them all.
65 Chevy II, 327, 4SP
67 Chevelle 327' Power Glide
69 Chevelle SS396, 400Turbo
70 Nova 350, 350Turbo
69 Corvette L88, 427, 4SP
79 Camaro Z28, 350, 700R
84 IROC Z28, 305, 700R
These were the memorable ones. I have owned to many in my life to remember them all. A few of them I don't care to remember.

Currently, big block 1968 Chevelle convertible. Something about the "old car smell" from the interior you just can't duplicate today (not those caused by our teen years). But, I really do enjoy the a/c in my everyday car in the summer!

Back in the day there was a '63 Grand Prix, 70 Chevelle SS, 71 LS-6 Vette, 71 Challenger, '69 Mustang, and others. All a hoot at the time, but as has been said, all of them basically useless around a corner.
That said, there are muscle cars to be had these days like the SRT/8s, the Shelby GT500, etc. they have better brakes than the classics, but still make my balls suck up into my chest looking at a set of turns.
For a great modern muscle car, I ended up turning to ze Germanz for an E63 (cuz I don't fit in an M5 :-/ )

I had a ton of them, 67 GTX, 68 GTX, 69 Camaro, 67 Mustang fastback, 69 Super Bee, and on and on. That being said my new Hemi Challenger is a much better car in almost every aspect but I miss the old ones, they just had cool in their veins. That's also why I'm building a Factory Five 33 Hot Rod and a 557 cubic inch 64 Fairlane.
