this might not be considered too much of "common sense" but, did you tried pulling really hard? i dont see why you couldn't try that since it is all metal tubing.

my problem in f'ing with older pipes is it turns into a 3 trip day to big box store...I agree.
Stand above the drain with your feet on either side. Grabe that sucker like a post hole digger and yank like you are trying to pull start the earth. That should do the trick. LOL

The real question is why are you running the snake down that pipe. Any clogs would be at the drain pipe. Not there. Not a professional plumber but I’ve seen one played on tv.
