Drain cleaner (snake) stuck in tub - plumber question UPDATE Snake Out!

UPDATE: the snake is free! Thank somebody above because what a pain this was.

I managed to separate some pipes.

And then I saw some FOD.

Operation time. At this point snake is still stuck, so needlenose pliers are of aid. And then a long grabber tool. And you can't make this up. Obviously there was hair. But look at the goods ... a few ladies razor protectors, a cap, and a ball. A ball!

Snake is now free. BUT there is one object remaining. What say you - doesn't this appear to be the stopper mechanism? It reminds me what I have seen under a sink. So I am thinking this is the part that would plug the tub to fill it? The part behind the curtain.

But 1) I am open to suggestions of what this may be, and 2) It does not want to come out. I think there is a part I can't see that must be wider than the next section of pipe I am trying to pull it up through and it is catching.

Looks like the remains of the lever system that actuates the drain seal or stopper

I feel your pain. We had just put the house on the market and the guest toilet starts running really really slow. I didn't want to use harsh chemicals so I decided to remove the toilet. Note - this was a 90 yo pink toilet that filled from the top. It had to stay with the bathroom. Upon removal I see the problem. Middle son had flushed his deodorant bar down the toilet and it was crosswise in the pipe. I proceeded to wrap a garbage bag around my middle son's arm and told him to "go fishing" The deodorant was removed and the toilet replaced.

At the time, my 4 year old grandson flushed what turned out to be the toilet paper roll down the main floor guest toilet.

Took three days of snaking to get it out, finally had to use a powered one I rented. Cardboard tube was still in pristine condition after 3 days underwater....

Between toilets clogging and pipes leaking water, it makes me think about the cost benefit analysis of an outhouse in the backyard!

Nothing gonna clog up a 14 inch diameter opening to a hole going straight down nearly to the center of the Earth.
Believe it or not my grandfather lived about 45 minutes from here. He had a outhouse up untill the 80's. I frooze my balls off a few times using that thing in the winter. Genitals are non-existent exposed to temps in the low 40's. Those bad boys know where to go when it gets that cold. I swear I could feel them in my neck .
