How hard is it hunting without a dog on bigger water? I hunt a small pond where it isn't really an issue but I'm wandering how it will be if I hit the bigger stuff this year...

Duck Hunting without a Retreiver?

never done it on "big" water. I have shot a few times on a 20ac pond, and to keep from taking a jon boat I took a a good baitcaster with a zara spook. The few mallards and geese I shot there I would cast and snag them unless there was a strong wind headed towards a close bank.
I agree, I do it every year. But not because I don't have a dog, but because I wouldn't put my dog in that water!!!
Thanks for the responses Guys...I usually hunt a 2 acre pond in Jackson with a jon boat so retreival hasn't been an issue..
