22LR is not legal to take waterfowl
If it doesn't mention a certain caliber or weapon in the book, then no! I found that out the semi hard way years ago. I got a ruger 17hmr when the caliber first hit the market. I went squirrel hunting on John's mountain and got randomly checked for license . When he asked what kinda rifle I had he I told him the new 17hmr. He said I've got bad news, that gun's illegal! He called a supervisor to clarify and indeed it was illegal. The book only called for 22 cal rimfire at the time and not 17cal, since the rifle came out after the books were printed. He was very understanding though and let me off with a warning ticket, said he would've done the same thing if he had one. The following year, the 17cal rimfire was added to the regs.
