Now that summer is over we finally got the vintage air in the 76 K-10

Does it use Freon-12? I've still got a case of R12 in my basement, from the late 1990s when it was being phased-out. My brother had an old car that used it. But he also bought a few cases, and we've never needed mine.

Was it pricey?

$1650 for the unit
That's everything , new unit under dash with AC evaporator ,heater core ,condenser , fan, ductwork , controls , etc.
Everything under hood, compressor , condenser , hoses etc

We had to pay extra for a high mount bracket for the compressor because we have a 5.3 LS engine from a 2002 Silverado ,and the factory compressor location on the LS hits the frame on the 76

Borrowed the vacuum pump and gauges to charge it

Lots of vendors sell the vintage air units , prices varied, we bought it from Rutters Rod Shop in NC

Uses 138

I have a couple cans of 12 laying around, have some r-12 gauges too
