First Gator

With the help of my new friend rickc we were able to get this gator early saturday morning.

What does the meat taste like on those guys?

Had fried gator but thats it and you really can't get a good feel of the taste when fried.

Can you cook it like a tenderloin or other types of steak or is deep fry the only way to go?

Its white meat like chicken,stews,soup,gator nuggets are the way to go.I'm running out and no permit this year.

I'm making sausage with some. The other I will deep fry. Deep fry is the only way I've eaten it. I do have a couple of cajun cook books that have some gator recipes. Dont know the weight other than it was very heavy.
