Actually, catfish are the trash filters. Carp are herbivorous. I'm not much of a fish eater, but the complaint I've always herd is that they are very bony.

That's why you clean them, take the big white chunks of meat, put it in a blender with some mayonnaise, lemon juice, cilantro, and onion if you want ; blend until mixed. Make balls and put on wax paper, refrigerate for 1 hour, smash into patties, coat with bread crumbs, and dunk it in some hot oil.

Tilapia eat poop at fish farms to keep the tanks clean (their sole purpose there) but folks eat the hell out of them.
