FLOCK cameras, have you seen them????

Capture a license plate? Okay. I don't love it, but it's a publicly issued document, in use on a public roadway. Without a warrant, use should be limited to automated searches for reported stolen vehicles, active manhunts, etc. Any other investigative access should require a warrant.

On the other hand...pictures gathered from a government operated network of cameras, of cars, pedestrians, bikes, etc., into a persistent database that can be used to track individuals without a warranty? Blatant violation of the 4th Amendment and prevailing case law.

My opinion is they should use technology to trim out anything but the license plate.

They put these at the entrance to my sub division and crimes stopped. No break in's, no mail theft, no porch pirates......

That's great. Could have been done with a privately owned camera.

Government now has exactly what it needs to know when you come and go from your home. Fine, in this current political environment, but what happens if we backslide and they start looking for potential J6 type offenders...is that a rifle we saw in your car this past week?

They use cell tower and cell phone pings now. Thats how they tracked a bunch of the J6 "anarchists".
