Forest fires by a Ted Nugent

Scientific data to back up the rangers claims?

Doubtful as there have been numerous studies indicating no relevance to beetle population explosions before or after fires to an extent that it would exacerbate the fires

If one had actual knowledge of just how difficult it is to manage a controlled burn in these areas you describe then it would seen that the theory here is in fact unfathonable to predict the desired intent without having a fire escalate into an unmanageable situation

I just love how many seem to have actual fire-fighting experience in these areas.Even here in Ga,especially the mountains they are seldom if ever utilized due to the concern of them becoming unmanageable

Controlled burning is an acceptable practice in areas that are and can be deemed manageable, but the mountains and valleys of the northwest pacific and other areas prone to high winds and difficult terrain usually make efforts impossible to control or predict, nice try tho conflating the 2 by using your ranger analogy even tho it is very weak.

FWIW I worked for the Florida Forestry Service runnin a D-5 for several yrs in my youth cutting breaks and have a lot more knowledge than Nugent has in his whole body regarding fire suppresion in my right hand. We did controlled burns on a regular basis, but then again it is flat and easier to maintain

If one doesn't have the intellect to see the correlation between the warming trends and expanded growth patterns of beetles over the yrs then they are doomed to see these situations happening, even here in Ga. the pine beetle population is growing and expanding, but they spray and deforrest areas that are subject to infestation with little use of fire as a inhibitor as there is no known correlation between the 2,smh

"Doubtful as there have been numerous studies indicating no relevance to beetle population explosions before or after fires to an extent that it would exacerbate the fires"

That is not what he said.

So why the obfuscation?

He is telling the truth same thing in the Southern USFS lands you need timber cutting to have Healthy forest and healthy Wildlife populations. any you boys hunt in North Ga and NC mtns can see the results first hand ref our wildlife numbers

"All of those dead trees and habitat providing brush also create a lot of dry fuel to burn out of control."

We can change it with good soil conservation practices and better air quality and emmission standards, but not under the current admin. which doesn't believe what scientist, foresters and rangers have been saying for yrs.

It's not just environmental groups that are seeing the trend, the scientific community has the evidence, yet it falls on deaf ears because to many its all about the GAD rather than the survival of the human populace

I think part of the problem is that an uncontrolled and unregulated EPA was rammed down our throats for 8 years. The courts said they could write their own mission statement and agenda, and there was nothing we could do about it while they stomped on private property rights and private water usage. Then, just like when the pendulum swung FAR Left to put Obama in office, it swung far Right in Trump. There is no way to argue that more fuel equals higher uncontrolled fire probabilities. It just does. Now, are there other issues that come into play? Of course. However, the constant interference from the naturalist is simply slowing any the efforts to stop this type of catastrophe. Is Global Warming a real thing that's out of control? Maybe, but it's not filing suites in courts to slow efforts to control the damage it's doing.

Just my thoughts. :peep:

The U.S.F.S. is not regulated by the EPA,The are and entirely separate entity when it come to regulating our forest. They have in the past shown concerns on water runoff from bad forestry practices, but mainly focus on our air/water quality.

Global Warming is fo sho a real thing, heres a link to the latest Nation Climate Threat released today,do try to keep up folks:)

Ecosystems and the benefits they provide to society are being altered by climate change, and these impacts are projected to continue. Without substantial and sustained reductions in global greenhouse gas emissions, transformative impacts on some ecosystems will occur; some coral reef and sea ice ecosystems are already experiencing such transformational changes.

Re: The hunting practices have more to do with the increase in our deer population that anything else, rapidly growing citys, deforestration due to growth force our deer into tightly managed areas, then you also have the fact that the numer of permits issued for hunting have dwindled significantly over the past 30-50 yrs.I applaude our hunters, they do far more than they realize.Personally I think they should get insurance discounts and free hunting tags

Man, if your info about global warming is as accurate as it is about the deer population, you know practically nothing.

"force our deer into tightly managed areas" Seriously? There are more deer in Georgia now than there has been for a century and they are frigging everywhere.
