Garand Receiver / BM59 question

So my gunsmith buddy knows I like Milsurps, and offered me a Springfield Garand Receiver that he had laying around . Of course I gladly gave him $150 for it! My next question is what to do with it? I like the idea of building one of the BM59 kits that Sarco has now. But I kind of feel guilty about cutting up a USGI receiver . What would you guys do / build?

In all seriousness, I'd build a 308 if I already had a 30-06.

I'll toot my 9.3x62 horn here- that's a unicorn build for me. 9.3 in a Garand. 3,800ft lbs. x8! It would probably take less to work well than the 458 too...
