I only shot at the head. I don't know how many times I hit him. He was trying to crawl away when I hit him with the head shot. He came up in the air with his head and the tail went up and started to rattle. Every time I had a clear shot, I went for the head. He twisted and turned for at least three hours.

Yeah, snakes are resilient. They can take a lot before calling it quits.
