I have tried to get used to the extended mag release for the Gen 3 Glock. Even cut one down some, they are just too long. Any ideas ? Compared to the Gen4 and up, the Gen3 is tiny.

Cut the frame to fit a gen 4/Gen 5 release?
Screw a larger piece to the factory get 3, then shave it down slowly. Use JB weld- Plastic

I like the Vickers Tactical/Tango Down extended one. I like it because it is extended enough to be very easy to actuate, but not out as far as the OEM extended one. It is also nicely beveled.
I've considered all of your suggestions. But I use a thumb instead of a finger, so that won't fly..
I am a gen 3 puritan... I get a gen 3 extended mag release, I cut it down with the edge closest to the trigger 1/16th longer than the portion towards the rear of the pistol. ( the rear portion is as long as factory at this point) It is at an angle that makes it easier to reach during reloads, but not easy to hit inadvertently. I take a 24 LPI thread file and ''re file" the grooves on it to match the original. Magic!
It'll come down to trial and error again, I went through this back before the Gen 4's arrived.

This is the refined version of my second option. Lol.
Still though, that 3rd option on your thumb is the cheapest option.
I tried to like them all but I’m just rocking the factory mag release and slide release in all my Gen3’s

It's a nice G26 I just got from an ODT'er. I'll get it sorted out, everyone should have a 26/27 around, just in case.
I don't think I'd run an Extended Mag Catch (#1981) on a G26/27. Carrying that thing close to my body with a long Mag Catch sounds uncomfortable, to say the least.
I do run 1981's or the Israeli Mag Catch in all of my other Gen3's. I round off the corners very slightly, just to get rid of the sharp edges on the button.
