A friend suggested that I take any junk guns(don't have any) I had to sell there. I will not help a gun buyback turn into a success in the eyes of the media.

They label it "obstruction of justice", or interfering with law enforcement. Bunch of s$if you ask me. They do notify people of recovered stolen guns, but somehow still melt them down.
As a former LEO, I can tell you that no officer I know or knew would have arrested someone at an event like this.
For one, every police officer I know / knew was very pro-2nd Amendment. Two, there is no violation of law. It isn't obstruction. Doesn't even come close to the elements of that law in OCGA, and three: a place where hoodlums bring guns in is not the kind of place you want to pull handcuffs out. Those people will run away.
The only word of warning I would give is, if you're brave enough to go down to the hood, i.e. College Park, and buy guns off people who are at a gun buyback event, have an LEO check the serials against NCIC.
So who is up for getting this thing somewhat organized?
I bet this is what happens, it won't be ODT only or even ODT majority down there I bet and keeping this utopian he wants this I want that no profit no bidding mentality won't happen.
I do hope I am wrong though.
