Bargain Barn in Jasper has a big sign on the door stating no loaded guns and also anyone carrying a firearm must stop at the front desk and put a lock on it. A couple of years ago I bought a S&W 638, a box of ammo, and an in-pocket holster there. I stood at the counter, loaded the revolver, holstered it and put it in my pocket. That may have been before the sign was posted.
There was a similar sign at a gun shop I visited quite often. I made mention of it one day and the guy behind the counter said it wasnt meant for people with any sense. Told me he didnt mind me carrying nor anyone simply carrying a firearm into their business. Told me the sign was intended for folks who pull an "unloaded gun" out of a closet and bring it in to find ammo or have something done. Told me you wouldn't believe the folks that would bring a gun in point it all over the place and then hand it to one of them and it would have been loaded the whole time. That to me made sense. That very day I went down the road to a pawn shop with similar sign. I asked them if their sign meant the same. The salesman very sternly said no it meant they didn't want guns in their shop. I apologized handed him the gun I was looking at back and told him my wallet followed my firearms and if one wasn't welcome neither were.
