Have you ever backed out of a sale after meeting with a buyer?

A guy tried to buy my gun and I had only spoken to him. After he drove a couple hours he showed up by himself and then said he was buying it for his friend who chose not to come. I turned him down. I felt bad he drove all that way and explained my position. He completely understood. We shook hands and he went back home. Great guys on ODT.
Some people just talk way too much. If I was buying a gun for someone I sure wouldn't tell anyone. Makes me think it could have been a sting.

tried to meet with a guy once.... and realized the person on the phone, wasn't in the vehicle that he described he was in. Not to mention there were 3 extra parties in the vehicle with hoodies on. Also, he then tells me he sent his friend to pick it up. felt like a set up... I ignored, reported, and blocked, and peeled out. called a fellow ODTr to let them know of my first sketch moment on here.

Yep, on armslist. Guy showed up with Cali plates on their car and I asked how long they have lived on GA……a couple of weeks, then he whipped out a NC drivers license. He kept looking around nervously. I explained I didn’t feel comfortable about this, I told him to go get his GA driver license and I’d knock off $20 the pistol and hold it a couple of weeks. He agreed, and never heard off from him again, lol.

This… if someone buys a gun from me it’s none of my business what they do with it later…to an extent. When I backed outta the sale on the Hellcat it was cause the 2 he already bought and another one for the other buddy. Hair on my neck stood up.
I figured I would get a neg but never did..

This was a very long time ago. I had found a Mazda RX7 in the paper for sale. I met and looked at it, everything seemed decent. We agreed on a time that I would come pick it up a few days later. I went to the bank and took a loan out to buy the car, my wife even agreed to this. It was just a dream car and wouldn't have been for transportation. Anyway, I had the cashier's check in his name and all. Meanwhile he kept calling trying to move the meeting up several days. I got uncomfortable about the deal, like something just wasn't right. So I backed out of it. I returned the check to the bank and maybe paid $1 or so interest. If it just doesn't feel right sometimes you might be better off walking away. I still to this day feel I made the right decision
