Have you ruined a handgun in such a manner..

S&W's factory "Performance Center" used to make a special version of their 637 called the Wyatt Deep Cover (named after gunsmith Rich Wyatt of reality TV show fame).

It had a bobbed hammer but not shrouded or concealed. I had one of these --bought brand new and owned it for about 10 years.

If I want a handgun without a hammer spur I buy a gun without a hammer spur. To provide a scenario where a hammer would be useful to me is if I hear a noise I will cock the hammer for the quick and crisp first shot. If I can't hit my target with the first **** then I go buy a gun that holds 18 rounds or I visit the range more often. No disrespect for those who don't feel the way I don't please understand this! 😁

As for the question in the OP question, absolutely not and will never!

The single action trigger is one thing, double action is another. Pocket carry doesn't work well with the hammer on the J frame, to me. The hammerless models do well. I shoot my Model 14 double action, it's the way it is. and you know the single action trigger on S&W's and Ruger's are pretty good from the factory. A spring kit helps with the hammerless J frame's, IMO.
I have bobbed a hammer or two over the years. Don't think I would do it to a Smith or Ruger. But the RG 38 and the Charter Off Duty I bobbed both worked out fine. It would be cool to do it to a 6 round gun like the Model 10 or even an RIA M200. Thought about doing it to my M206 but it's too new and nice ( for an RIA) to go grinding on.

I carry a 360pd in my pocket all the time, never had an issue with the hammer, when I draw it I just cover the hammer with my thumb and sweep it out of the way once it’s clear of the pocket.
