Have you ruined a handgun in such a manner..

A Colt Python? Firearms blasphemy!!!!!!
Yea, I cringe.......On any collectable firearm......I guess it's one thing if you can put it back stock. I put a trigger stop in a 629. But I replaced the trigger with a after market and saved the original. Put a screw in the trigger because the frame didn't have the cut out for the stop

If I want a handgun without a hammer spur I buy a gun without a hammer spur. To provide a scenario where a hammer would be useful to me is if I hear a noise I will cock the hammer for the quick and crisp first shot. If I can't hit my target with the first **** then I go buy a gun that holds 18 rounds or I visit the range more often. No disrespect for those who don't feel the way I don't please understand this! 😁

As for the question in the OP question, absolutely not and will never!
I won't say never, that's a long time. But I haven't yet. At least that I can remember. And I do like a good weapon

I have bobbed a hammer or two over the years. Don't think I would do it to a Smith or Ruger. But the RG 38 and the Charter Off Duty I bobbed both worked out fine. It would be cool to do it to a 6 round gun like the Model 10 or even an RIA M200. Thought about doing it to my M206 but it's too new and nice ( for an RIA) to go grinding on.
Heck, even some of those you just mentioned are becoming collectable.....

I carry a 360pd in my pocket all the time, never had an issue with the hammer, when I draw it I just cover the hammer with my thumb and sweep it out of the way once it’s clear of the pocket.
I come out at a little different angle out of the pocket. Works for me, I'm sure not everybody

Pick your poison...
