Have you tried Sig's new P365 ammo

My EDC ammo up to now has been the 9mm Sig 124 grain JHP ammo because it had the higher foot pounds of energy on impact -- but now I'm looking at this new P365 ammo.

For defensive cartridges, basically they've got:

• 115 grain @ 1,185 ft/sec and 359 ft-lbs
  
• 124 grain @ 1,165 ft/sec and 374 ft-lbs
• P365 115 grain @ 1,050 ft/sec and 282 ft-lbs
• 147 grain @ 985 ft/sec and 317 ft-lbs

As far as I can tell, they used a different powder which reduces the velocity + foot pounds. Any other differences? Any advantage to the new one besides less recoil?

Maybe that's not really an advantage in a defensive situation -- dunno. Ammo gurus please weigh in.

No. But I have used their two loads for 10mm. Excellent ammo. The FMJ ammo has the same ballistics as their JHP defensive ammo - same weight, velocity, energy, etc.. So training is identical to self defense in terms of gun handling. Also, the ammo is top shelf with the high energy levels that a 10mm shooter would want. None of that 40 cal. in 10mm clothing.

The 365 ammo is optimized for short barrels... The specs on the box are for a 3.1in barrel. Sigs regular 9mm specs are for a full size 5in barrel. Most common pistol ammo specs are for 5in unless otherwise specified. (365 ammo test barrel length is on their website)

Speer has short barrel loads in their Gold Dot line.
