healed rib cage of deer

One of my late friends shot a buck with his bow and lost it. All that he had was a sparse blood trail that ended quickly and the majority of an arrow shaft, broken off just a few inches behind the broadhead. He shot 100gr Thunderheads. The business end was obviously lodged in the deer.
Needless to say he never made the recovery
Fast forward into rifle season.....we are at the processors place dropping some deer off. The owner comes out and has something to show us....it’s a section of vertebrae that he removed from a buck that was dropped off by another hunter that we didn’t know. Sure enough, there is my buddy’s Thunderhead broadhead and broken off arrow lodged in this chunk of vertebrae. The arrow shaft was a perfect match. The bone had already started healing up around the blades. I would not have believed it had I not seen it in person.
Deer are extremely tough animals.
