Henry Homesteader

If HENRY wanted to market a version of this gun to people who live in assault-weapon-ban states or cities,
they could make a variation with the following changes:

1-- The muzzle would not be threaded.

2-- There would be yet another magwell option for a new proprietary 10-round magazine that Henry would invent and patent, and Henry would not allow other companies to make higher-capacity versions of their design. Henry would invoke the "derivative" or "equivalent" doctrines of Intellectual Property law to ensure that the only commercially available magazines to fit that version of the Homesteader, with that magwell option, are 10-rounds or fewer mags. (And, I'd say, Henry should produce 5 round mags for hunting purposes, and a single-shot magazine / SLED type magazine filler block to allow this gun to be more easily used in slow-fire stages of shooting matches and training clinics. Thus, the Homesteader would also make an excellent rifle for a youth or newbie to learn with, when they graduate up from .22 rimfires and are ready for their first centerfire rifle / carbine.

Have you seen prices on the Ruger-made Marlins? Not for the feint of heart.

ETA - Screenshot added. And they're sold out.

Dealer cost on those is well under $1000. Just can't get them because the high dollar sellers get first pick. In fact, the particular model you showed has a MSRP of $983 from Ruger.

Yeah like after Remington took over. But I heard Ruger owns them now so maybe things are looking up as far as quality control.
Not really the case at all. They went way down hill for 10-15 years before Remington bought them. They were about to go under had Remington not bought the brand and brought them back from the brink of extinction. The Remingtons were not great the first few years but after complete retooling they were far better than anything Marlin had produced for at least a decade if not two.
