Henrys...

I gotta admit, I do have quite a bit of .357/.38 ammo because I have an S&W 686 revolver, a Taurus .38 special, and an S&W .38 special AirWeight. Hmmm... :-)

Same here. I have .357 and .38 revolvers and lots of .357 and .38 ammo, so I really want a .357 lever gun. Besides, I already have a couple of .30/30's.

Get the .357. It'll be a blast and the most economical. If you ever tire of it, it'll sell quickly.

Wow...I just went to the Henry site (haven't checked it out in a while) they're now offering shotguns... lever action .410's and 12/20 Ga single shots.
Also, the all-weather feature (chrome plated & synthetic stock) is now available on the big boy steel models... not to mention .41 magnum is now an option for the Big Boys.

...but either way you go, Henry is a great choice.

Any of those will certainly handle something up to feral dogs handily. If you really intend to shoot very little and only 'as needed' then get whatever sounds like you might like it the best. If deer are ever a possibility, I'd personally not choose the .357 given the other choices but it is certainly capable within more limited ranges. http://www.hornady.com/store/357-Mag-140-gr-FTX-LEVERevolution/

I like Hornady. I think they make good ammunition. Them and Federal.

Being a fan of lever action rifles, I have three Henry Rifles, 2 Big Boy rifles, .44 and .45colt, and Silver Boy .22. I like all three, and do not plan on parting with any of the three. I find the Henry to be a very solid, finely finished, accurate and dependable rifle. No issues with mine, and I do not expect any. Skinner makes some very nice peep sights especially for Henrys and while I do not have a Skinner sight on any of my lever rifles, I know several owners that swear by the sights, not at them.
Based on what I have read, I believe you should narrow your choices to two rifles. The 30/30 and the .357. Since you have a couple of Smiths and a Taurus, it would be the perfect companion rifle. BTW, the .357 round out of a rifle is very lethal at short distances.
I am amazed, that no one posted a picture of their Henry, so I will.

Beautiful rifles! I like the Big Boys, especially in silver (but, the brass if beautiful too!) I think you're right... I think it is going to be between the 30-30 and the .357/.38, but the devil in me also keeps looking at the .44 mag. Like a few folks have said, I can't really go wrong with a Henry, regardless of choice. Now, it's about choosing the right tool for the job. Thanks so much!

You know if you got the .44, then you'd have a reason to eventually get a .44 revolver. Just sayin'

I forgot to add the Customer Service Department at Henry, is second to none. Absolutely the best I have ever used.
