No it doesn't, it's just ground. It's mechanically broken down.

Think hfcs is just fine? Walk around some countries that don't have corn in everything. The first thing my daughter asked when we moved back to the US is "Dad, why is everyone here so fat"?

Ahem, it is treated with alkali dried and then ground into grits. It isn't simply mechanically broken down.

We didn't. We ran field corn (as soon as it dented) through a grinder and passed it though a sieve. No alkali treatment at all. Best damn grits you'll eat.
