Holding/Opening doors for women....

I always hold doors, even for dudes. It's just the nice thing to do. If someone is within 3 seconds of the door, I'll hold it.

I also open the car door for my wife EVERY time, and buckle up all the kids in their seats while the Queen gets comfortable. I'm still not sure if I'm a gentleman or I'm *****-whipped. LOL

Wife's from NY, she's far more considerate and courteous than most of these Southern Bells. Bad manners knows no boundary!

It's a feminist thing. Even though you do it to be courteous, they view it as a gender based insult towards women.

I tend to say "You're welcome" when I hold a door or extend some other courtesy. I just say it louder and a little more sharply when I say it to someone who didn't say "Thank you".

I always hold the door for anyone and dont realy care if i get a thankyou or not as i know i have done what i should and i always say thank you if someone has held it for me i also use yes maam no maam and yes sir no sir i just feel as long as im respectful thas all that matters to me

Doesn't really bother me. I always hold the door, and after that.. I don't really care what you say or do. I've done my part.

This. That's all you have to do. Do the right thing. I've always held the door for everyone, whether they say thank you or not. I'm not responsible for their homeraising, just for setting an example to my children's.

Some of you are not gettin what I BELIEVE the orig. post is saying. One of the problems with this world is a ( don,t care attitude ) toward other people. it is kind of like the thread we had on here a while back on ( Helping others when in danger ) some people just care about themselves and thier family and no one else. I and Many like me do not feel that way, we are here to not only help and protect our own family but others also, It is my job as a human being to help others and being a christian even more the reason. If I see someone hurting a kid I WILL say something, if I see someone being jumped I will help, if someone is broke down on the side of the road I will help. And when Come across people that do not give thanks to someone when they should I Will say something. people need to start thinking of others instead of just themselves all the time. the world will be a much better place when they do.

So what? You have no control over what other people do. There is little point in fretting about it. All anyone can do is their own personal best, lead by example, and hope that others follow.
