IP cameras are the best quality out there right now. Just like anything else you get what you pay for. There are still some nice HD analog cams but the IP is super nice. Depends really what your looking for? You can just use one cam for nothing but viewing or if you are wanting to record run it through a PC or get a DVR. They mere them to where you can view remotely VIA PC or mobile.

I bought a Uniden UDR744. It came with 2 wireless cameras but can take 4. It comes with a 7" color monitor and can be accessed over the internet. We have had it for about 2 months now and are very happy with it so far.

Also interested. I know its usually not likely to find cheap and good, but if anyone knows of a good set up for around $200 for about 3-4 cameras. Inside/outside.

I'm not educated on the stuff, but have been meaning to look into it. Something Accessible from your phone, no monthly.

Do any of these cameras have an app so you can view live feed from your phone? I am also interested in getting a few cameras, mainly for viewing not so much recording.

How many? I might have a couple IP cams I can hook you up with.

I install security camera systems for a living, in my opinion hard wire is the best way to go. A lot of the WiFi systems will slow down your internet, Be careful with the systems from the big box stores, most of them are not worth the money. Poor quality cameras with inferior IR cut filters, which leads to poor camera images. Over half of my installs are replacing the systems like Swann, Q See and Night Owl. i would be happy to answer any questions any of you might have.

Check out Drop cam. I think Nest picked them up. You can see them with a smart phone.Cam was $199 each it goes to the cloud for 7 days then rolls off two for 14.95 per month.
You can set up zones and it will e mail you if it picks any thing up. I have two of them.
The bad part is you find out just how much time your dog spends on the couch when your gone.

Just about every dvr or nvr has a app for remote viewing and playback. On the systems i install you can even take snapshots from the cameras and save them right to your phone.
