Hope this isn't your pit bull loving grandma!

Sorry I'm dragging you in on this one Bear44 Bear44
It's a waist of time trying, man. No matter what evidence is presented they will think pits are inherent killers and nothing will change their mind. It's pure willful ignorance.

It's exactly the same thing that happened to German Shepherds, Doberman Pinches, Rottweilers and so on and so on...

Fact: Dogs are powerful carnivorous that have the capability to kill human beings. Every once in a while it's going to happen. No specific breed is more likely to do it than another. However, the press is much more likely to report an attack from the "Bad Dog Breed de jure" of the time.

What are the stats on being attacked and bitten, not just dying? Seldom see stories of Collies, Labs or Golden Retrievers killing people. Just sayng.
And, just for the sake of argument, how accurate do you think breed identification is, in dogs that injure or kill people as a result of poor supervision? Do you think they do a DNA test before they euthanize the dog? Do you think they check for AKC pedigree? What percentage of dogs, that injure or kill people, do you imagine are purebred?

Sometimes it's just :boom:

Dogs are instinctual animals. Adopt a dog that has been selectively bred for aggressive tendencies, for generations, and you're going to have to train it and keep an eye on it. I'm not maligning any breed, I've got a Pit-mix but I keep an eye on her. She's very alpha, and a little crazy, but I trust her with my infant niece. If you teach your dogs how to behave, they will.
Pits have been selectively bred not to be human aggressive for generations. When they were being fought in the pits they were named for, the human handlers were typically in the pit with the fighting dogs. Any dog that turned on the handler, even in the heat of combat with another dog, was quickly euthanized and taken out of the gene pool.
