How cheap can you put together a squirrel getter?

found this rolling block 22 smoothbore in a house I bought and refinished the rotten worn stock with a home finished one and after a thorough cleaning, it shoots great and accuracy is pretty good for a smooth bore.

Cheap and put together (build), an oxymoron. Every time I put together a rescue gun it cost me 3x the price as if I would have bought a nice one off Gunbroker. My latest rescue are these two babies. I call them Babies because I though they were cute at first but like babies cost a fortune. The top is a Remington Model 580 single shot. It was missing the Bolt, Butt plate, trigger guard and rear sight blade. The blue was covered in rust and the stock looked rough. After hitting up every outlet for gun parts. Grand total nearly $200 plus countless hours of elbow grease. I have a nice $140 gun. At this rate I will be rich soon. The bottom gun is a Savage Sporter 1917 pre 23A. This one was in the white and missing it's safety, and magazine. The stock was black and looked like it was used to hit a few homeruns. The magazines for this rifle sell for $60-150. I've got a guy on Rimefirecentral sending me some parts. hopefuly it will be up and running next week. I built a free Winchester 72A a few years ago. after searching the seven seas for parts, I had probably $250 in a $150 gun. Cheap squirrel killers. Hmmm maybe not. I get these guns out of police impound sales. The stories they could tell.

I have a Rem 580 action and barrel, looking for a stock now........ gave $35 for it about 7 years ago, last deal I ever did on the old trading site.

I think I paid around $60 for mine, new, in the early 80's.(10/22's were a hundy)
69 dollars for mine at a Hardware store in Wooster Ohio in 1979. Probably one of the most popular 22 semi autos of that time and before. The Glenfield Model 60 I have a Sales Promo mag for that gun from 1967. Nice re-purposing job though.
