What would you tell your best friend, brother, fellow soldier, neighbor or other close relative to do in this position?? Usually how you answer that gives you the foresight you need.

This won't be a popular statement, but focus more on seeing your kid than getting your guns. Guns are made daily, your children aren't. Yes, you have your rights to your firearms, but I don't see you having much choice here or them being whats most important.

Dude, I don't know you and I have problems to. Just slide outside of yourself and look at your every action in a microscope. I don't see where you could go wrong.

My 2 cents

im doing my best. i go to work, and i come home. i cant exactly be a good father since im not allowed to have contact with my daughter right now

Hoboken - I realy appreciate that, kind of gives me some hope that theres still decent people out there. The fact that would be willing to help a complete stranger that much is really moving. Ill talk to my platoon Sergeant, hes already given me a similar letter for my application for the police dept, so im sure he would be more than willing to give me another. Just something to vouche that im not some asshole. Believe me, i do understand the predicament that this must place on some people, including the judge. Like you said, he doesnt know me at all, and she is playing into that. I can completely understand his cause for concern and him erring on the side of caution. My biggest concern is the fact that he ordered me to stay away from firearms, but never tried to suspend my firearm license. He knows i could go out and buy a gun anytime i wanted to, so why say that i have to avoid firearms? all this is doing now is causing me issues with the Army and any hope at a career in law enforcement.

yes Klark, i understand what your saying. of course my daughter is the most important here, but i have no doubt i will be allowed to see her when the psych is complete. i am very upset that its going to take so long to get completed, and that i cant afford to get it done now, i had to get a loan for the lawyer already, so 1500 bucks for a psych eval is hard to come up with. My biggest concern as far as the firearms go, is yea my right may have been infringed a little, but being a soldier in the army, and not being allowed to be around firearms, can cause some serious issues, im already going to miss a deployment due to this, and i am fairly sure its only a matter of time befeore they try to discharge me over something like this. What the hell is a soldier without his weapon, and im in an infantry unit by the way, so the answer is...useless.

I would have figured the Army could tell that Judge to pound sand as long as you were on base. And I would have figured a judge in a Military town to be less of a douche, but go figure. Post up a letter or send it to me in a PM, and I'll send you $50. It would be my pleasure.

your absoulutely right hobo i would have thought the army would be more willing to help me out here to. but they basically told me, all they care about it wether or not i get charged with anything. which i have not been, and i dont think i even can be. i had a witness to the incident, she did not. so it was basically proven that it never happened. and i would have thought a military town judge would be more apt to be more understanding and at least fair also, but i guess not. i will talk to my sgt and see about getting that letter ASAP. I sincerely appreciate your will to help out a total stranger. that means more than you can imagine. Nice to know theres still people like you out there, people who give us a reason to fight over there.

I found this post from you on 05-24-10.
A gun for your GF that you are claiming HATES guns. I'm not sure everything is adding up. If I am wrong, I'm wrong. Wouldn't want this group of guys and gals here to be taken advantage of.

WTB .22 for the gf
I am looking to buy a decent, cheap .22 for my girlfriend. i dont really care what kind it is, long as its decent, i do not want a bolt action rifle though, if its a rifle it has to be semi auto and not an every shot jam kind of gun. I can buy a brand new Marlin for Academy for about 110 bucks so if somebody has something NICE for less than that we can work something out. Bonus points if its pink or something. Has to be in good condition, message me and let me know what you have. Not really looking to spend much more than 100bucks unless its a gun that i just know she will love, i can go a little higher if i need to.

Klark- thats actually the girl that i am seeing now, not the ex fiance. When we first started dating she was interested in buying a .22 rifle to learn how to shoot, after going to the range several times with me and the friend i mentioned earlier that works for the sheriffs office. She wanted to be able to go hunting with me this year, however since that ad was posted, much as changed and obviously i cannot buy her a rifle, or take her hunting.

Im not sure when i posted that particular ad but the TPO from my ex came sometime in late may, around the 28th if i am correct, so from then on, i was not allowed to posess or be around firearms.

If you would like, i will look tomorrow and see what the exact date of the TPO was.

I picked up something strange right off the bat, he's lost jobs with law enforcement, and a security firm while in the military ?? Agree its not adding up and if he's military he has access to good legal services and consuling at no charge, again ??? and buying a weapon on the net for a new girl friend when told to stay away, again ???
