Hunter needing guidance

When I stared hunting I read a lot myself but nothing compares to learning on your own what works and what doesent.
The more time you spend in the woods the more you learn such as never dismissing the sound of a stick breaking a half hour ago as “nothing.”
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve relaxed and moved just a little bit in such a situation only to get busted by a sneaky buck that was in stealth mode.

One of the coolest things I witnessed was in Helen when a big 10 point broke out onto a steep ridge after I did a random doe bleat.(Could’nt hear him coming but saw him in my peripheral.)
He was out of my comfort range for archery but I enjoyed watching his movements. <If I only had a rifle.)
The wind was circling hard that day in all directions and the deer would only move when the wind gusted.
When the wind stopped he would either lay down next to a log or stop next to a big tree always keeping his body protected.
I watched him do this for 20 minutes.
He got out of my sight so I called again and he came walking towards me again.
I was watching him from my climber through my crossbow scope.
He kept coming closer then I blinked and lost sight of him.
He disappeared like he fell in a hole.
Probably laid down.
I sat motionless for 1 hour and never did see him again.
He had a stark white rack with big fat tines.
Would have been a very impressive public land buck had I busted him.
Definitely the one that got away.
