When it eats a child or a pet in the neighborhood you will wish you had done something when you had a chance. Any wild animal that is that bold is unpredictable and dangerous, especially in a neighborhood full of houses.

You got to wonder why a gator would show up at your front door. He must've wanted something and I doubt it was borrow a cup of sugar. I guess if you live near their habitat it comes with the territory, but around here he would've been rounded up.

I grew up in South Florida and fished the canals around alligators without much problem.

We didn't have canals in the area of Florida where I grew up; but we had lots of ponds and lakes with gators. It was pretty routine for the guys to ride our bicycles to some of the larger lakes for fishing and swimming. I learned to water ski while attending Boy Scout summer camp. The lake we used was called Alligator Lake. It had that name for a reason.

I fail to see the correlation. I say front door and you say back yard. Was your front porch in the back yard by the canal?

Any wild animal that is carnivorous and wanders through a neighborhood to someones front door needs to be taken care of. If you don't want to kill it you should have it relocated. I don't care if it is a gator, bear or coyote. Once they loose the fear of humans you have a dangerous situation. By the looks of the picture it doesn't appear that you are in a remote area but rather a subdivision. First thing that will go missing is the neighbors, or your, pets. Who knows where it will lead after that.

Just do a quick google search and you will see how deadly this situation could be. Gators are on the move this time of year looking for food and a mate. I don't know about you but I would not like to be mated by a gator right before he eats me!
