I always put 200-300 rounds of ball and then 1-2 boxes defensive ammo through anything I'm going to carry... I've seen every type of pistol (yes, including Glocks, M&Ps, and XDs) fail during training and competition. Remember ALL guns can fail without proper maintenance.
If its a used gun, ALL springs get replaced immediately and it gets a thorough cleaning and once over.
