I love catching these things on a light fly rod.

I use a flyrod with a spinning reel on it for trout on the hooch.Best of both worlds.Started using ice fishing rods some also.

If blue gills got to 10 pounds, they would drag us in the water and make us their b****es. It always amazes me how small they turn out to be after the fight they put up.

Even the small ones will often put up a hell of a fight for the first few seconds.

shell cracker bed once a year. I think bluegill bed once a month for a few months
