I need a recommendation for a non-chain restaurant in Cartersville/Emerson

Girlfriend turns 52 and we'll be in Emerson this weekend, staying in Cartersville Saturday evening.

I made reservations at Largos but want to know if there are other options for a nice meal out, casual dining.

Any Hillbillies up there have any recommendations for a flat lander?
you could try shlongs. its like hooters but with guy... just dont order the onion rings.. you DO NOT want to know how they serve them...

My lieutenant used to always talk about opening a place like that. He said it was for the "profits". He swore he was straight but "it would just be so successful." He has a family but we all knew the truth

Went to Doug's Place for early lunch at 11. They were slammed. Collards had good flavor but FULL of thick stems. Cornbread passable. Chicken breast fried a bit too long, leg was the best I've ever eaten. Creamed corn starchy. Squash casserole so so, not much solid. The mac & cheese forgettable.

The fried okra alone would be worth the drive from Macon. About the best I've eaten grandmother's notwithstanding.
We are working on their new place in Paulding county now.

I wasn't impressed.
Doug's Place used to have the best country cooking around I have been going there over 30 years and it was always like Mama's home cooking very good quality but the new owners are more about profit than quality it's now mostly frozen and canned food no flavor I will not go back.

Accurate assessment. No soul. The food had no care at all.
