If he is driving 2 hours to meet you, he is probably doing his due diligence before spending the gas. The serial number will give info on manufacture date and recalls. There is not much he can do with the number that would hurt you.

Even if in some bizarre world he reported it as stolen, he would get to go to jail for filing a false report.
 
I would just offer to meet him at a gun shop and let them check it out and do all the paper work if he is that worried.
 
like CaptDave said, theres not much he can do with it, unless he wants to spend some time in jail for filing a false report. Its your gun, your call. I dont think you have anything to worry about.
 
The first thing to ask yourself is if the guy is serial or super serial.

There's a certain amount of trust required when buying and selling things. They trust that I'm not lying and I trust that they're not going rob me at first sight.
